In The Drive
We live in Hallettsville, a small town not on the Gulf Coast, not in Central Texas or the Hill Country but we share a bit of all in our climate.
It rains a lot then it doesn’t. It is incredibly humid and then it is not. Hurricanes, hail and tornados are rare but not absent and in the Spring and Fall the crazy weather happens as the Gulf of Mexico and Canada fight it out over the Great Plains.
These images document early Spring 2023 near the area where I park my truck. The patterns are generated by the rain, pollen, dirt, rubber and evaporation. They exist for a very short time and then are lost forever.
Pollen season was heavy and the yellow pollen of oaks was everywhere.
In April and May the heavy rains came and swept water, dirt, pebbles and worms from one side of the property to the other, next to my truck.
And near the end of May it was all gone.
Except for some stragglers, all of the worms survived.
